Press Release from Schutt Sports
Schutt Sports new football helmet, the F7 LTD, has earned a “Five Star” rating and the #1 and best-performing helmet in the Virginia Tech STAR Rating System, displacing a highly touted and publicized helmet from Vicis.
The F7 LTD is the latest model of the seminal F7 helmet series, first introduced by Schutt in 2017. It is available immediately in the NFL. The F7 LTD builds upon technology already proven in the F7, like TPU (thermoplastic urethane) Cushioning and 3-Dimensional Tektonic Plate Technology. Engineers at Schutt have enhanced the shell design of the F7 LTD to improve performance and impact absorption in high impact areas of the helmet. The company has also added Anti-Friction faceguard attachment points to the helmet.
“To earn the top spot in the STAR system again says a great deal about the dedication and capabilities of our research and development teams,” said Glenn Beckmann, Schutt’s Director of Marketing Communications. “The F7 LTD is the latest step in our continuous journey of putting the best performing gear on the field. No helmet can eliminate the risk of concussion but we’re extremely proud of the innovations that were made by our engineers in the #1 ranked F7 LTD.”
In addition to the top-rated F7 LTD, Schutt also has the third ranked helmet on the Virginia Tech list, the F7 VTD, which also received a five-star rating.
Since 2011, Virginia Tech researchers have published the STAR Rating System as a means to inform consumers when purchasing helmets. In the STAR Rating System, five-star helmets are rated “Best Available” and the #1 ranking of the F7 LTD puts a Schutt helmet atop the ratings once again.
“The enhancements made for the F7 LTD once again show Schutt is committed to provide players with state-of-the-art helmets in the ever-changing game of football,” Beckmann said.
The Schutt F7 LTD will be available in mid October at the NCAA and other levels of football.
